There’s something about the fall season that awakens all of our crafty mindsets, and as an apartment renter, this serves as a perfect excuse to add a new seasonal look to your space by decorating your butt off! There are many ways to begin adding a fall feel to your apartment space, whether you’re looking for a more subtle design or something a little louder. Below we have included some quick tips to begin the process of creating a beautiful fall aesthetic for your apartment home. 

Pumpkins are a must

Anyone that enjoys the fall season knows that pumpkins are the official mascot of the season! What better way to show your excitement for the season than with a collection of prop pumpkins! Apartment dwellers can display the pumpkins in their bathrooms, on a window ledge, or at another location in your apartment that will allow the pumpkin decor to pop!

For those apartment renters that like to add a sprinkle of DIY to their design process, a fall wreath is a perfect way to accomplish both of those things! One of the best things about displaying a wreath on your apartment door is that it allows you to share the fall spirit with all of your neighbors every time they walk by.

A delightful scent is an easy way to immediately bring the feel of fall right into your apartment home. Having an autumn candle collection for the season is essential to ensure that fall smell never leaves your apartment. Some of the must-haves for the season include apple, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and clove. 

Decorative Pillows

Another great way to add some fall flavor to your apartment home is to swap out your current pillow collection with a more cozy style! Having this collection will instantly make your living room area explode with fall design magic. Then, take things a step further by adding seasonal colors to the collection to create an even more fall aesthetic every time you walk into the space. 

Flex your Fall Green Thumb 

Just because the summer season is over doesn’t mean you can’t have greenery in your apartment home! Plants like dahlias, ranunculus, and even leaves and branches serve as a tremendous seasonal feature for your apartment. Skyland Town Center DC Retail Announcement

We’re proud to announce the latest retail releases that are coming to Skyland Town Center.

&Pizza – Skyland will be the 10th site in Washington for this pizzeria, which first opened on H Street NE in 2012 and now has 25 locations across the DMV

Mezeh – This Mediterranean-influenced eatery will open its second location in DC at Skyland. Founders Saleh Mohamadi, Steve Walker, and Tai Chiao opened their first Mezeh in 2013 in Annapolis; the business now has 24 locations. 

Maizal – Skyland will be the first stand-alone and sit-down location in DC for this South American street food concept. The restaurant, founded in 2018 by Dario Arana-Rojas, started as a counter-service eatery in the L’Enfant Plaza food court.

Tropical Smoothie –Will be the third DC location of the national fast-casual, healthy lifestyle café concept that boasts 850 locations in 44 states. 

The restaurants are expected to open in the late spring and early summer of 2022.

Roaming Rooster – Skyland will be this popular fried chicken sandwich eatery’s fourth location in Washington. This Black-owned business started in 2015 as a food truck operating in the District; the family parlayed its loyal following into a brick-and-mortar operation in 2018, since then opening DC locations in Tenleytown, U Street, and Woodridge. Residents can expect the delivery of the Skyland location later this Fall (2021).

These exciting new food establishments will join neighborhood “institutions”, Like That Barber, which has continued to serve families in Wards 7 and 8 for 30 years. Additional retailers CVS, Skyland Nails, and Spa, and Chase Bank will open in 2021.  Lidl and Starbucks are planned to open in 2022. 

Additional retailers and restaurants will be named in the coming months.

4 Apartment Lessons for 2021

As we kick off the first week of the new year, there are probably many things you’re looking forward to leaving behind in the previous year. Rightfully so, 2020 was an indescribable year; it left many us in an unfamiliar place, and in turn, have you believing that nothing good came from it. Yes, that year was very challenging, and while it might be easy to want to forget 2020 entirely, there are many things to take away. We learned a lot about ourselves; we found out how strong we can be, we found out creative we can be, we found out how patient we can be. These lessons and realizations will continue to help us as we navigate into 2021. 

Last year, we became more familiar with ourselves; we got more familiar with something else, too—our apartment homes. 

As an apartment dweller, you spent more time inside of your four walls in 2020 than any other period before. This time made you realize that your apartment space needs a fresh look going into a new year after months of looking at the same decor and stylings. 

If 2020 didn’t teach us anything else, it taught all of us how to get creative with our spaces in more ways than we can imagine. Use that same energy to add some new life into your area for a fresh 365 days.
